Printer Friendly Version RECEPTION ON THE OCCASION OF THE SERBIAN STATEHOOD DAY HELD AT THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA IN BERN, 14.02.2020. @ 19 February 2020 02:52 PM

The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Swiss Confederation marked Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, “Sretenje”, by organizing a reception for representatives of the diplomatic corps and Swiss institutions, followed by a solemn gathering of the Serbian diaspora.
       The official celebration of the Statehood Day was opened with the national anthems of Serbia and Switzerland, performed by an opera singer from Zurich, Danijela Bjelica, and Andrijana Adamović from the Serbian cultural society "Kikac", accompanied by violinist Tatjana Vucelić from Basel.
      H. E. Ambassador Mr. Goran Bradić welcomed the attendees, with a short historical reminder of the importance of the “Sretenje” for Serbia. He also spoke about the strong ties between Serbia and Switzerland and current bilateral relations between two countries, which are good, stable, dynamic and characterized by high-level and highest-level political dialogue.
       During his address to the Serbian Diaspora, he took the opportunity to invite attendees to enroll their children in the Serbian Supplementary School, as well as in religious education, which would contribute most to the efforts to preserve Serbian language, tradition and culture among the third and fourth generations of Serbs in Switzerland.
      Guests had the opportunity to see the natural beauties of Serbia, as well as its potentials in the field of tourism, agriculture, energy, IT and creative industry, through the video presentations.
       The reception was attended by numerous representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, State Secretariat for Migration, State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation and Swiss companies, as well as representatives of the Serbian diaspora.
       “Japan Tobacco International”, “Emilio Stecher” and “St. Peter's Weine” were the sponsors of a reception at the Embassy.
