At the ceremony on the occasion of the Day of Diplomacy of the Republic of Serbia, the most successful Serbian tennis player Novak Đoković received award for exceptional personal engagement and contribution in promoting the interests of the Republic of Serbia and its people all over the world. This recognition was presented to him by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia H. E. Mr. Ivica Dačić.

The explanation of the award states:

"Idol of the youth, praised not only for sport results but also because of his confirmed personal qualities outside of the sports field. It is difficult to find better example in the recent history of such a young man, whose successes was able to unite people and make them experience happiness and admiration in victories, and, then again, sadness and disappointment in rare defeats. He was able to awaken our dormant spirit and give us strength while inspiring generations. Furthermore, he sent the world a message of a strong sports nation, of talented and good people, who are proud of their history and tradition".
