The Mayor of Belgrade prof. Dr. Radojičić paid an official visit to Switzerland to participate in the first Forum of Mayors 2020 in Geneva. On this occasion, he made a visit to Bern and met with Mayor Alec von Graffenried.
The mayors pointed out the good cooperation and friendly relations between two cities, which were formalized by the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation and Friendship between Belgrade and Bern in 2016. They analyzed the points of this agreement and their realization, as well as the potentials for improving further cooperation between the two cities.
The topic of conversation was also the development of the concept of a green and smart city, where the experiences of Bern are valuable to Belgrade, especially in the field of infrastructure and environmental protection. A return visit of the delegation of the city of Bern to Belgrade was also agreed.
On the same day, our delegation led by Mayor Mr. Radojičić visited the „Forsthaus energy center“ in Bern, in order to get acquainted with the waste incineration system, which reduces the emission of harmful gases in the city. The visit to this combined power plant is of great importance for the further development of Belgrade in accordance with the concept of a smart and an ecological city, which implies sustainable production and rational use of electricity.
