The first Teachers' Council in school year 2021/22 was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Bern, on Sunday, 14.11.2021. The Teachers' Council was led by the Coordinator, Mrs. Biljana Bukinac. Fifteen of the sixteen currently engaged teachers attended. All COVID-19 protection measures were undertaken.
Consul Predrag Mandić attended the teachers' council and greeted the teachers on behalf of the Embassy, wishing them a happy school year and good health, as well as a welcome to the new part-time teachers. He pointed out that the representatives of the Embassy are working hard at every opportunity to increase the awareness of parents about the importance of attending classes in the Serbian language. Consul Mandić used the last such opportunity the day before, addressing 1,500 spectators at the Festival of Serbian Folklore of Switzerland in Dietikon, Canton of Zurich.
It was jointly assessed that the cooperation of teachers with the Embassy is at a high level, which is best reflected in the fact that all requests of teachers are answered on the same day, and Teachers' councils are traditionally held in the Embassy. The embassy also organized a service for teachers during the Teachers' council.
Classes in Serbian language are organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia; they are free and conducted in 19 Swiss cantons. Classes are currently attended by 1254 students with a tendency of constant growth. Detailed schedule and locations of lectures with contacts of competent teachers and other useful information, such as the application for student enrollment, can be found on the Embassy's website HERE.
